A uniform system of numbering properties and principal buildings,
as shown on the map identified by the title "Town of Whitewater,"
which is filed in the office of the Clerk, is hereby adopted for use
in the Town of Whitewater, Walworth County, Wisconsin. This map and
all explanatory matter thereon is hereby adopted and made a part of
this article.
Violation of this article shall be punished by a forfeiture
in an amount as set forth in a fee schedule to be kept on file with
the Town Clerk, plus the costs of prosecution. Each separate day the
violation is continued shall constitute a separate offense. If violation
fine is not paid by November 1 of each year, the charge will be added
to the property owner's tax bill as a special charge.
All properties or parcels of land within the boundaries of the
Town of Whitewater, Walworth County, Wisconsin, shall be identified
by reference to the uniform numbering system adopted in this article.
A. All properties on the east side of North-South roads and all properties
on the north side of East-West roads shall be assigned even numbers.
All properties on the west side of North-South streets and all properties
on the south side of East-West roads shall be assigned odd numbers.
An appropriate prefix of N or W will precede the number.
B. Each principal building shall bear the number assigned to the frontage
on which the front entrance is located. In case a principal building
is occupied by more than one business or family dwelling unit, each
separate front entrance of such principal building shall bear a separate
number.
C. Numerals indicating the official numbers for each principal building
on each front entrance to such building shall be mounted on a metal
post. To ensure uniformity, official numbers shall be located in the
most visible side of the entrance at approximately five feet in height
and as close as possible to the front edge of the property.
