The Chief of Police shall be ex officio keeper of the City Calaboose
or Jail, and shall be responsible on his/her official bond for its
proper management. He/she shall cause to be kept an accurate record
of all persons imprisoned therein, by whom committed, the sentence
of imprisonment and date of commitment, for what offense, when committed,
when and by what authority discharged and the cost of maintaining
each person so detained therein. He/she shall see that all prisoners
confined in the City Jail are supplied with sufficient quantity of
wholesome food and water, and that female prisoners are at all times
kept in apartments separate and apart from male prisoners.
