This article is enacted pursuant to the authority of § 189-c of the Town Law, which directs the governing bodies of municipalities containing fire, fire alarm, or fire protection districts to dissolve those districts upon establishing a joint fire district.
The Town Board of the Town of Dayton finds that with the establishment of the joint fire district known as the South Dayton Fire District, which will provide fire protection services within that part of the Town of Dayton now served by the South Dayton Fire Protection District, it is in the public interest to dissolve the said Fire Protection District.
The Town of Dayton Fire Protection District is hereby dissolved.
All ordinances, local laws and parts thereof inconsistent with this article are hereby repealed.
This article shall take effect January 1, 2002.
