(a) 
The normal work week of the City shall consist of five (5) days and not be less than thirty-five (35) hours nor more than forty-two (42) hours, except where necessity arises to maintain regular service requiring an employee to work on an official holiday.
(b) 
The hours for particular employees shall be established by Department Directors and approved by the City Administrator.

(a) 
Due to the emergency nature of the work of the Police and Fire Divisions, this section shall not be applicable to the members of these Divisions.
(b) 
The following official holidays with pay shall be observed by the City unless an alternate day of observance is directed by the Mayor:
(1) 
New Year's Day;
(2) 
Washington's Birthday;
(3) 
Good Friday;
(4) 
Memorial Day;
(5) 
Independence Day;
(6) 
Labor Day;
(7) 
Columbus Day;
(8) 
Veterans' Day;
(9) 
Thanksgiving Day;
(10) 
Friday after Thanksgiving;
(11) 
One-half day Christmas Eve Day;
(12) 
Christmas Day; and,
(13) 
One-half day New Year's Eve Day.
(c) 
If a holiday falls on a Sunday, it shall be observed on the following Monday. If a holiday falls on a Saturday, it shall be observed on the preceding Friday.
(d) 
In the event a holiday is observed while an employee is on paid vacation or sick leave, that day shall not be deducted from the employee's accumulated sick or vacation leave.
(e) 
To be eligible to receive holiday pay an employee must work the regularly scheduled work day before the holiday and the regularly scheduled work day after the holiday, unless he has been excused by his supervisor or unless his supervisor is satisfied that his absence was justified.
