a. Cherry Hill Township has the authority to prohibit discrimination
in the renting of rental unit housing space under the police powers
granted to it for the protection and promulgation of the health, safety
and welfare of the citizens of the Township.
b. Discrimination in the renting of housing space within the Township
adversely affects or would affect the health, safety and welfare of
the citizens of the Township.
c. Distinctions made with respect to tenants on the basis of age, ancestry,
atypical, hereditary, cellular or blood trait, liability for service
in the Armed Forces of the United States, color, creed, handicap,
marital status, national origin, nationality, sex, affectional/sexual
orientation, domestic partnership/civil union status, genetic information,
refusal to submit to genetic testing, refusal to provide genetic information
or race of a person or that person's spouse or partner, or on
the basis of displaying the American flag; provided the display does
not substantially and materially interfere with the employee's
job duties, or existing or ongoing status as a residential tenant
are among the forms of discrimination adverse to the health, safety
and welfare of the citizens of the Township.
d. Existing residential tenants within the Township of Cherry Hill are
entitled to protection for their health, safety and welfare from discriminatory
rental practices favoring new tenants.

A landlord of residential housing space shall not, except as
otherwise permitted by law, discriminate on the basis of race, creed,
national origin, ancestry, age, marital status, sex, physical handicap,
or existing or ongoing status as a residential tenant in the renting
of housing rental space, the charging of rent, or the offering of
long-term leases for comparable housing space in comparable locations
in the same dwelling.
