[1973 Code § 45-15]
The Governing Body shall have power to appoint annually an Animal
Control Officer, whose duty it shall be to enforce the provisions
of this chapter and the provisions of Chapter 151 of the Laws of New
Jersey for 1941 and any supplements and amendments thereto provided.
The Governing Body shall also have the power to appoint one (1) or
more persons, who may impound unlicensed dogs or cats which are running
at large in violation of the provisions of this chapter.

The Governing Body may enter into negotiations and may contract
for Animal Control Services for a period not exceeding one (1) year,
for collection, keeping for redemption, destroying or disposing of
all dogs running at large or unlicensed or stray dogs or cats required
to be licensed found within the Borough limits, and for sheltering
and feeding such dogs or cats during the redemption and to defray
the costs thereof.

Any officer or agent authorized or empowered to perform any
duty under this chapter is hereby authorized to go upon any premises
to seize for impounding any dog or cat which he may lawfully seize
and impound when such officer is in immediate pursuit of such dog
or cat, except on the premises of the owner of the dog or cat if said
owner is present and forbids the same.

No person shall hinder, molest or interfere with anyone authorized
or empowered to perform any duty under this chapter.

Any person who is convicted of violating any provision of this chapter shall be subject to such fine and general penalty as set forth in Section
1-5, General Penalty, of the Code of the Borough of Rockleigh, within the discretion of the Municipal Court Judge.

The provisions of this chapter are supplementary to and in addition
to the provisions of Chapter 151 of the Laws of New Jersey for 1941,
as supplemented and amended.
