For purposes of this Chapter, "communications tower" shall mean an elevated structure situated on or affixed to real property or structures thereon that is intended for transmitting or receiving television, microwave, radio or telephone communications.
With the exception of those towers delineated in § 228-292, no communication tower shall be located within one thousand (1,000) feet of a residential property line or residential zone boundary line, public park property line or school property line.
Construction of communications towers shall be subject to the requirements of State Uniform Construction Code Act, N.J.S.A. 52:27D-119 et seq., and the Uniform Construction Code, promulgated thereunder.
A. 
Communication towers used for the following purposes are hereby specifically exempted from the requirements of this Chapter:
(1) 
Citizen band operation;
(2) 
Amateur Operation;
(3) 
Public Safety, including but not limited to communications for the Federal, State or County Municipal Government.
B. 
Communication towers which have been constructed or which have received preliminary and or final site plan approval prior to the effective date of this Ordinance shall be exempted from the requirements of this Chapter.
