A regular Town election shall be held in the Town biennially
on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of each odd-numbered
calendar year. Special Town elections may be held from time to time
as allowed or required by law and this Charter. All elective officials
shall be elected as specified in the General Statutes, and all terms
of elective office shall commence as specified in the General Statutes.
Unless otherwise established by ordinance, there shall be one
voting district in the Town.
There shall be a Board for Admission of Electors which shall
consist of the Town Clerk and the two Registrars of Voters. The duties
of this Board shall be as specified in the General Statutes.
Only electors of the Town shall be eligible for election to
any Town office. If a person holding an elective office ceases to
be an elector of the Town under the General Statutes, that person
shall cease to hold the office, and the office shall be deemed to
be vacant as of the date that person ceases to be an elector of the
Town.
In addition to the First Selectman, the following shall be elective
officials of the Town:
a) Members of the Board of Selectmen.
b) Members of the Board of Finance.
c) Members of the Board of Education.
d) Members of the Board of Assessment Appeals.
f) Such other elective officials as may be required by Town Meeting,
ordinance, or the General Statutes.
