The Board of Supervisors hereby authorizes the Township to participate in the "Young Lungs at Play" program sponsored by Penn State University Westmoreland County Extension Program.
All public parks, playgrounds and recreational areas owned, operated and/or managed by the Township, individually, shall be and are hereby designated as "Tobacco Free Zones" and smoking and/or or the use of tobacco products shall be prohibited in same hereafter.
The Township shall post "Tobacco Free Zone" signs at conspicuous locations within all public parks and playgrounds consistent with the Young Lungs at Play Program.
Any person utilizing tobacco products within a "Tobacco Free Zone" shall be subject to immediate removal from the park, playground or other recreational facility by the person or entity responsible for the use and control of the facility at the time such use occurs.
The Secretary of the Board of Supervisors shall forward a copy of this resolution to the aforesaid "Commission" along with a request that the Commission adopt a "Tobacco-Free Policy" consistent with this Resolution and the "Young Lungs at Play" program, create "Tobacco Free Zones" and authorize the placement of Tobacco Free Zone signs, within all public parks, playgrounds and other recreational areas within the Township subject to the Commission's operation and control.[1]
