As used in this article, the following terms shall have the
meanings indicated:
BUSINESS DISTRICT
Includes all those areas zoned for business, commercial and industrial purposes in Chapter
290, Zoning, of the City Code and accompanying map as amended or other applicable regulations.
BUSINESS HOURS
The hours between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on any business
day.
ROADWAY
That portion of a street or highway improved, designed or
ordinarily used for vehicular travel, exclusive of the berm or shoulder.
SIDEWALK
That portion of a street between the curblines or the lateral
lines of a roadway and the adjacent property lines intended for the
use of pedestrians.
STREET OR HIGHWAY
The entire width between the boundary lines of every way
publicly maintained when any part thereof is open to the use of the
public for purposes of vehicular travel.
No person shall deposit or cause to be deposited any snow and
ice on or against a fire hydrant or on any sidewalk, roadway or loading
or unloading areas of a public transportation system, except that
snow and ice may be windrowed on curbs incident to the cleaning of
sidewalks in business districts.
The Mayor is hereby authorized on behalf of the City to cause
sidewalks to be cleared upon the request of the person or entity charged
with snow and ice removal. Any person or entity whose sidewalk is
cleared pursuant to this section shall reimburse the City for the
costs of such clearing.
