§ 363-6 Motor vehicles not to be driven on sidewalks.

No person shall drive any vehicle except a human-powered vehicle upon a sidewalk or sidewalk area except upon a permanent or duly authorized temporary driveway. Any person who shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25 and costs of prosecution or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of such fine and costs.

§ 363-7 Speed limits.

The following speed limits are hereby established:

Any person who shall operate a vehicle at a speed in excess of that established therefor, upon any highway or portion thereof as specified in this section, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $35 and, for exceeding a maximum speed limit by more than five miles per hour, shall pay an additional fine of $2 for each mile per hour in excess of five miles per hour over the maximum speed limit, or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of fine and costs.

§ 363-8 Traffic signals at certain intersections.

At the following intersections, official traffic signals shall be erected (or if heretofore erected are hereby ratified), and traffic at such intersections shall be directed by such signals:

Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall disobey the directions of any traffic signal shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25, and costs of prosecution, or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of fine and costs.

§ 363-9 U-turns prohibited on portions of certain highways.

It shall be unlawful for the operator of a motor vehicle or tractor to make a U-turn on any of the following portions of highways:

Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25, and costs of prosecution, or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of fine and costs.

§ 363-10 One-way highways.

The following are hereby established as one-way highways:

Any person who shall operate a motor vehicle or tractor upon any highway or portion thereof hereby established as a one-way highway other than in the direction hereby established for traffic thereon shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25, and costs of prosecution, or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of fine and costs.

§ 363-11 Through highways.

The following highways are hereby established as through highways, and the operator of every vehicle upon approaching any such highway at any intersection thereof (except for such intersections where there are now or shall hereafter be located official traffic signals) shall come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any such through highways:

Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall fail to come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any such through highway, as hereinabove required, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25, and costs of prosecution, or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of fine and costs.

§ 363-12 Stop intersections.

The following intersections (in addition to highways intersecting with the through highways established by § 363-11 of this chapter) are hereby established as stop intersections, and official stop signs shall be erected (or are hereby confirmed if heretofore erected) in such a position as to face traffic approaching the second-named street upon the first-named street, in the direction or directions hereby indicated. All vehicles approaching any such intersection upon the first-named street, in the direction or directions hereby indicated in each case, shall come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any such intersection:

Any operator of a vehicle or tractor who shall fail to come to a full stop, within a reasonable distance, before entering any stop intersection, as hereinabove required, shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25, and costs of prosecution, or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of fine and costs.

§ 363-13 Certain classes of vehicles prohibited on certain highways.

It shall be unlawful for any person to drive or park any vehicle or tractor except a passenger vehicle (but not including any passenger vehicle drawing a trailer or towing any other vehicle) upon any highway except the following:

Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $25, and costs of prosecution, or, in default of payment thereof, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of such fine and costs, provided nothing herein shall prohibit the operation of any commercial vehicle upon any street or portion thereof listed hereinabove where such operation thereon shall be necessary in order to pick up or deliver any goods, wares, merchandise, or material from or to any premises located upon any such highway or portion thereof.

§ 363-14 Vehicle weight limits established.

It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any type of a motor vehicle having a gross weight in excess of that herein prescribed upon any of the highways in the Borough or portions thereof, as follows:

Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of $75 for each 500 pounds, or part thereof, in excess of 3,000 pounds over the maximum allowable weight, plus costs of prosecution, or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of the fine and costs.

§ 363-15 Unlawful to operate motor vehicles or tractors on highways closed for construction or repair.

It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle upon any street in the Borough that is under construction, resurfacing or repair, in disregard of any official sign, barricade or notice that the same is closed to vehicular traffic. Any person who shall violate any provision of this section shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not more than $25, and costs of prosecution, or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of fine and costs.

§ 363-16 Play highways.

The Mayor is hereby authorized to designate as play highways, whenever he shall deem such action advisable, and for whatever period of time directed by him, any portion of any highway in the Borough whereon sledding and coasting shall be permitted. Such highway shall be set apart for the purpose under the direction of the Mayor. No person shall operate any motor vehicle upon any play highway at any time when such highway shall be so designated, except in case of emergency, with special permission of the Mayor or police officer in charge, who shall first clear such play highway of all persons using such highway for the purpose for which it was set apart.

§ 363-17 Accident reports required.

The operator of any motor vehicle involved in any accident in the Borough and required by law to report such accident to any department or agency of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, or any person required to make such a report shall, at the time of making such report to the Commonwealth, make a written report to the Chief of Police of the Borough, containing the same information. Any person failing to make the report to the Chief of Police as hereby required shall, upon conviction thereof, be sentenced to pay a fine of not less than $10 nor more than $25, and costs of prosecution, or, in default of payment of such fine and costs, to undergo imprisonment for not more than one day for each $10 of the unpaid balance of such fine and costs.
