(a) 
There is hereby adopted an ordinance establishing minimum regulations governing the design, construction, alteration, enlargement, repair, demolition, removal, maintenance and use of all buildings and structures; providing for the issuance of permits, collection of fees, and making of inspections; and providing penalties for the violation thereof; known as the "Building Code."
(b) 
The Building Code, of which one copy is on file in the office of the City Clerk of the City of Old Town, is marked and designated as the "International Building Code and the International Residential Code, Edition 2006," as published by the International Code Council, Inc. The Building Code is adopted by the City of Old Town, in the State of Maine, for the control of buildings and structures as herein provided; and each and all of the regulations, provisions, penalties, conditions and terms of said International Building Code and International Residential Code are hereby referred to, adopted and made part hereof as if fully set out in this chapter.

The following terms shall have the meanings indicated:
APPLICABLE GOVERNING AUTHORITY
The City Council of the City of Old Town.
BUILDING OFFICIAL
The Code Enforcement Officer of the City of Old Town.

In situations where the Building Code adopted by this chapter is in conflict with the Zoning Ordinance of the City, the latter shall control.

The following amendments have been made in the Building Code adopted by this chapter:
(a) 
The following chapters and sections shall be deleted:
(1) 
International Building Code.

Chapter 1: Sections 101.4, 112.
b. 
Chapters 11, 13, 27, 28, 29, 30 and 32.
c. 
Chapter 16, Section 1612.
d. 
Appendix K.
(2) 
International Residential Code.
a. 
Chapter 1: Sections R105.2(1), R105.3.1.1, R106.1.3, R112.1, R112.3.1, R112.2.2.

(b) 
The following sections shall be enacted in addition to those not specifically excluded above:

International Building Code.
Sec. 112. General. Appeals of orders, decisions or determinations made by the building official relative to the application and interpretation of this code shall be heard by the Zoning Board of Appeals. The Board shall be the same Board that hears appeals to the Zoning Ordinance of the City of Old Town as set out in Section 107 of the Zoning Ordinance of the Code of Ordinances of the City of Old Town.
(2) 
International Residential Code.
Sec. R112.1. General.
