(a) 
Term; removal. A head driver shall be appointed by the chief and the director of emergency and safety services for a period not exceeding one year and may be removed by the chief or the director at their discretion, with or without cause.
(b) 
Duties. It shall be the duty of the head driver to keep all apparatus in proper working condition to the satisfaction of the fire chief and the director of emergency and safety services. The head driver shall provide to the director and the chief a written monthly vehicle report and report in a prompt manner all needed repairs and maintenance of such apparatus.
(c) 
Expenses. A head driver shall receive a stipend to cover departmental costs as provided for in the fire department budget.

(a) 
The department line officers shall be responsible for the training and qualifications of drivers who shall be authorized, upon a call for service or upon an order from the fire chief, deputy chief, assistant chief or line officers to drive said piece of apparatus. All drivers will first pass the training requirements in the department SOGs prior to being appointed.
(b) 
Term; removal. Drivers shall be appointed for such time as the officers may see fit and may be removed by them at their direction, with cause. Drivers may also be suspended and/or removed by the director of emergency and safety services per the department SOGs.
