It shall be unlawful within the municipal corporation limits of the Borough of Barrington to engage in the activity known as "trapping," "trapping" being defined as the intent to capture or kill animal species by the use of spring traps or other devices intended to capture said animal by virtue of the use of artificial mechanisms designed to inhibit their natural movement, it being the express intention of the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Barrington to protect the citizens herein from the possible dangers therein and to protect the citizens herein from suffering potential severe and substantial injuries as a result of said spring or other mechanical device. It shall be unlawful for any individual to place, use, set or in any way whatsoever cause the use of said instrument for said purposes within the corporate limits of the Borough of Barrington.

Any person violating any of the provisions of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be punishable as provided in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article III.
This chapter shall become effective immediately upon adoption and publication according to law. This chapter shall not apply to the A.S.P.C.A., Humane Society or to a duly licensed exterminator in the practice of his trade or the representative of the Board of Health in this Borough.
