The position of Chief Financial Officer is hereby created in and for the City of Bordentown pursuant to and consistent with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.1 et seq. Nothing in this chapter shall be read to be inconsistent with or contravention of said statutory provision.
The Chief Financial Officer shall be appointed by the Board of Commissioners, for a term of four years, which shall run from the first day of January in the year which the Chief Financial Officer is appointed, and shall serve in accordance with the provisions of N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.8.
The Chief Financial Officer shall at all times be under the supervision of and responsible to the Board of Commissioners in all actions relative to the duties and responsibilities of said office to the extent not prohibited by law.
The Chief Financial Officer shall receive as compensation the amount set forth in the Salary Ordinance.[1]

The Chief Financial Officer shall be responsible for the general financial recordkeeping of the City, as directed by the Board of Commissioners, in accordance with the requirements of law and regulations, including, but not by way of limitation of, N.J.S.A. 40A:9-140.1 et seq. and N.J.S.A. 52:27BB-26 et seq.
