The following structures must be equipped with a key lock box
at or near the main entrance or such other location required by the
Fire Chief:
A. All commercial and industrial structures;
B. All multifamily residential structures;
C. All governmental facilities.
All newly constructed structures subject to this article shall
have a key lock box installed and operational prior to the issuance
of a certificate of occupancy. All structures in existence on the
effective date of this chapter and subject to this article shall have
a 120-day period from the effective date of this chapter to have a
key lock box installed and operational.
The Fire Chief shall have the authority to approve the type
of key lock box system to be implemented throughout the Borough.
The owner or operator of a structure required to have a key
lock box shall, at all times, keep a key in the lock box that will
allow for access to the structure.
The Fire Chief shall be authorized to implement rules and regulations
for the use of the lock box system.
Single-family homes and duplex structures may participate in
the key box program on a voluntary basis.
