The sanitarian of the city shall be the health authority within
the meaning of this chapter.

(a)
The director of the Greenville-Hunt County Health Unit shall be the
city health officer. As such he or she shall receive no additional
pay from the city for such service, although the council may provide
for funding any additional expense incurred by him or her as city
health officer. The director, as health officer, shall be relieved
of all duties or requirements to attend upon the indigent sick or
imprisoned personnel on the part of the city. For care of indigent
persons imprisoned by the city who are sick, the council shall provide
for their care by a practicing physician, by contract or on call.
(b)
The director, as city health officer, shall serve for a term of two
(2) years subject to the will and pleasure of the council.
