is the charter of the Town of Providence Village, Texas, which was
adopted at an election held on May 9, 2015 and as amended at an election
held May 1, 2021. Apart from minor nonsubstantive changes in style
and formatting, the charter is reproduced as adopted. Capitalization,
punctuation and grammar have been retained. Obviously misspelled words
have been corrected without notation. Material enclosed in brackets
has been added for clarification. Subsequent amendments will be inserted
in their proper place and denoted by a history note following the
amended section.
PREAMBLE
We, the citizens of Providence Village, Texas, in order to establish
a Home Rule municipal government, provide for the future progress
of our Town, obtain the full benefits of local self-government and
provide for the public welfare, hereby adopt this Home Rule Charter,
in accordance with the statutes of the State of Texas; and do hereby
declare the residents of the Town of Providence Village, in Denton
County, Texas, living within the legally established boundaries of
the said Town, to be a political subdivision of the State of Texas,
incorporated forever under the name and style of the “Town of
Providence Village” with such powers, rights, privileges, authorities,
duties and immunities of local self-government, as are herein provided
and limited in this Charter.
