(a) 
Each candidate for an elective office shall meet the qualifications set forth in Section 2.04.
(b) 
Any person so qualified who desires to become a candidate for election shall file an application with the City Secretary in accordance with the Texas Election Code. Such an application shall be in compliance with the Texas Election Code.
(a) 
No person elected to the Council shall, during the term for which he is elected to the Council, be appointed to any office, position, or employment in the service of the City, and no former member of the Council shall hold any compensated, appointive City office or employment until two (2) years after the expiration of the term for which he is elected to the Council.
(b) 
If any member of the Council shall become a candidate for election to any public office of the City, other than the office then held, he shall, immediately upon his becoming a candidate, forfeit his place on the Council.
(c) 
If any member of a board or commission appointed by the Council shall become a candidate for election to any public office of the City, he shall, immediately upon his being elected, forfeit his place as a member of such board or commission.
(d) 
If any appointive officer of the City shall become a candidate for election to any public office, he shall, immediately upon becoming a candidate, forfeit the office held within the City.
(e) 
If any employees of the City become a candidate for election to any public office of the City of Red Oak they shall, immediately upon becoming a candidate, forfeit the employment held within the City.
