(a)
Fee.
The amount of the registration fee shall be as set forth in the fee schedule in appendix A of this code, due January 1st of each year.
(b)
Registration required.
Any person, firm or corporation desiring to engage in the business of roofing or the installation of roofing in the city shall, before doing so, obtain a valid registration, and pay the registration fee as set forth in subsection (a) above.
(c)
Qualifications.
No registration shall be issued until
the party applying for same has given satisfactory evidence to the
city of his or their ability to do said roofing by furnishing a letter
from the building official that this is a bona fide company.
(d)
Penalty.
Any person, firm or corporation found guilty of violating any of the provisions of this section shall be subject to a fine in accordance with the general penalty provision set forth in section 1.01.009 of this code.
(e)
Personal work by individual.
Any individual desiring
to perform his own work personally shall not be required to register
to obtain the regular permit for that particular job. Such work done
by an individual must be done by him personally on his own particular
job and not be a way of performing a service to the public generally.
(f)
Oversight does not excuse violation.
No oversight of
any city official, manager, employee or representative shall excuse
the violation of this article.
(g)
Enforcement.
The city council, through the city manager
or other agent or representative, is responsible for the enforcement
of this article.
