The Town Council shall appoint a competent licensed attorney
of recognized ability and he/she shall be known as the Town Attorney,
who shall report to the Town Council.
The Town Attorney shall receive for his/her services such compensation
as may be fixed by the Town Council.
The Town Attorney shall be the legal adviser of, and attorney
for, all of the offices and departments of the Town, and shall represent
the Town in all litigation and legal proceedings. The Town Council
may retain special counsel at any time it deems appropriate and necessary.
He/she shall review and approve as to form all documents, contracts,
resolutions, ordinances, and legal instruments in which the Town may
have an interest. The Town Attorney shall perform other duties prescribed
by the Charter, by ordinance or by resolution of the Town Council.
