It shall be the duty of the animal control officer of the city
to cause to be taken up any and all horses, mules, jacks, jennets,
cattle, sheep, goats and swine that may be found running at large
upon any street, alley, or other public place in the city and cause
the same to be placed and kept in a secure enclosure to be provided
for that purpose until the same are disposed of in the manner hereinafter
provided. He or she shall, immediately after taking up such horses,
mules, jacks, jennets, cattle, sheep, goats, or swine, notify the
owner thereof, if known to him or her, or post written notices at
three (3) or more public places in the city, one of which should be
posted at the courthouse, describing therein the marks, brands, color,
and other description of such horses, mules, jacks, jennets, cattle,
sheep, goats or swine and giving notice that the same will be sold
five (5) days after the date of such notice unless the owner shall
come forward and reclaim the same as hereinafter provided.

It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or entity
to keep any swine within the city limits, with the exception that
hogs may be kept on the city public school grounds as are necessary
for agricultural and educational purposes, and with the further exception
that those children participating in 4-H and FFA programs may be permitted
to raise two (2) hogs each within the city limits.
