(a)
Date to be abolished.
The office of city marshal be dispensed with, from and after the first Tuesday in April, 1947 and that such office be and it is hereby abolished.
(b)
City marshal duties to be performed by police officers.
There shall be employed by the city council, one or more police officers, who shall perform all of the duties heretofore devolving upon the city marshal, which officer or officers shall be employed at the will and discretion of the city council, and said officer or officers shall receive such compensation as may be agreed upon at the time of such appointment.
(c)
Peace officers.
From and after the effective date of this section, the city council may employ any duly qualified peace officer or officers of the county to perform the duties of police of the city, with such compensation as may be provided in contract of employment.
