A municipal employee in the Township of Nutley who has continuously served the municipality for not less than 20 years and who is eligible for retirement pursuant to the Public Employees' Retirement System of the State of New Jersey, the Police and Firemen's Retirement System of New Jersey or the Consolidated Police and Firemen's Pension Fund Commission, upon completing his period of service, shall be granted a paid leave of absence in lieu of accumulated sick leave time.
A.
Payment shall be at the same biweekly salary the employee was receiving at the end of his or her period of service, but only up to and including eight pay periods for the year 1979 and up to and including 10 pay periods for the year 1980 and up to 11 weeks for the periods of 2012 and thereafter.
B.
Pursuant to Title 11A, Civil Service 11A § 6-19.2, all non-union employees hired on or after May 21, 2010, shall not receive supplemental compensation for accumulated unused sick leave in an amount in excess of $15,000. Supplemental compensation shall be payable only at the time of retirement from a state-administered or locally administered retirement system based on the leave credited on the date of retirement.
