In conformity with the provisions of Section 3-2(d), Appointments, Board of Selectmen, of the Millbury Town Charter and the provisions of M.G.L. ch. 48, § 45, the board of selectmen shall annually, in April, appoint five qualified persons to serve as a board of fire engineers effective May 1st, who shall serve for a term of one year, or until successors may be appointed; provided, that the board of selectmen may, for cause, remove an engineer, after seven days' notice to him and a hearing, and shall fill all vacancies.
The board of engineers shall have the powers authorized by statute,
and annually shall appoint firefighters for a term of one year, from
July 1st until June 30th of the subsequent calendar year. The board
of engineers may appoint such men to the engines, hose and hook and
ladder carriages, and constitute such companies for securing property
endangered by fire, as they deem expedient, in conformity with all
applicable laws, bylaws, rules and regulations.
