Editor's Note: See 53 P.S. § 66901 et seq.
The Police Department shall be composed of a Chief of Police, and such officers and patrolmen, to be appointed by the Supervisors of the Township of Patton. Any such appointment shall remain in force until the appointee resigns or is removed by action of the Board of Supervisors at a public meeting, after such officer has been notified of charges brought against them and has been given a public hearing by the Board of Supervisors. Nothing in this chapter shall remove or relinquish the power of the Board of Supervisors to remove an officer from their appointment if the officer is convicted of any crime other than a minor motor vehicle violation, or if the officer is found to be morally, physically or emotionally unsuited for duty.
The Supervisors do hereby vest in the officers of the Police Department all police powers recognized under the various codes of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The Chief of Police may from time to time, as necessary deputize officers to serve on a short period of duty in the Police Department to assist in other than routine situations such as public disturbances, riots, fires or other emergencies.
