It is unlawful for any person to move an oversized vehicle in or upon the public streets of the city without first having obtained a permit to do so from the superintendent of the streets division. Permits may be conditioned as deemed appropriate by the superintendent of the streets division. An "oversized vehicle" is defined as any vehicle exceeding the maximum width, height, length or weight permitted by Vehicle Code Section 35000 et seq. Permits shall not be required pursuant to this chapter where a person has been issued a permit pursuant to Chapter 13.20 of this code.

Applications for an oversized vehicle permit shall include the following information:
A. 
The type, size, construction characteristics, weight, and dimensions of the vehicle to be moved;
B. 
The current address of the owner of the vehicle;
C. 
The proposed route;
D. 
Any other information requested by the superintendent.

Applicants may apply for an oversize vehicle permit valid for either a single trip or for a calendar year. Permits shall be valid for one vehicle and such vehicle shall never exceed the dimensions specified on the application.

An application for an oversized vehicle permit shall be accompanied by a fee as established by resolution adopted by the city council, as amended from time to time.
