The following words and phrases when used in this Title shall
for the purposes of this Title have the meanings respectively ascribed
to them in this Chapter unless the context thereof requires a different
meaning. Whenever any words or phrases used in this Title are not
defined in this Chapter but are now or hereafter defined in the Vehicle
Code, such definitions are incorporated in this Title and shall be
deemed to apply to such words and phrases in this Title as though
set forth herein in full.

An area designated for parking for all non-motorized bicycles.

"City" shall mean the City of Indian Wells, California.

A "commercial vehicle" is a vehicle used or maintained
for the transportation of persons for hire, compensation, or profit.

Driveway areas between rows of parking spaces or a row of parking
spaces and an area adjacent to the parking area.

of driveways, ramps, columns, office and work areas, for the parking

A structure used for the parking of vehicles where parking is
accommodated on two (2) or more levels.

A "passenger vehicle" is a motor vehicle, other
than a utility vehicle, designed for carrying not more than ten (10)
persons including the driver.

A designated walkway for pedestrians only provided between a
parking area and building or use being served.

"Police authority" shall mean the department contract
agency and/or contract employee(s) duly appointed or retained by the
City to provide police and/or code enforcement services to the City.

"Rated cargo limit" shall mean the weight limit
of cargo a vehicle is rated to carry by the manufacturer. Utility
vehicles are rated to carry cargo in limits including 1/2 ton, 3/4
ton, 1 ton, etc.

"State highway" shall mean those portions of State
Route 111 within the City.

A parking space located so that it abuts a second parking space,
such that a vehicle's access to that space can only be made
through the abutting (tandem) space.

A "utility vehicle" shall be defined as a truck
which is equipped with an open box-type bed less than nine feet (9')
in length, a suburban, van or other such vehicle with a rated cargo
limit of one (1) ton or less.

of the Vehicle Code of the State of California.
