The purpose of this chapter is to provide for and set fees for
services performed for the public by the Merced County sheriff's department.

Pursuant to the authority of
Government Code Sections 26720
through 26751,
Government Code Section 54985, and other provisions
of law specified below, the following fees will be charged at the
time the service is provided:
1. Mugshot photographs: $28.00 per copy.
2. Crime scene photographs: $28.00 per media storage device.
3. Outside training or special law enforcement training by sheriff's
office personnel: time and one-half officer hourly salary and benefits
plus mileage.
4. Case reports:
a. Copy of a criminal report: $20.00 per report, up to 10 pages. An
additional charge of $0.10 per page in excess of 10 pages.
b. Copy of a supplemental report only: $20.00 per report, up to 10 pages.
An additional charge of $0.10 per page in excess of 10 pages.
c. The first copy of a criminal report requested by a victim or their
representative of certain crimes outlined in California
Family Code
Section 6228 shall be provided free of charge. Additional copies of
a report will be charged $20.00 per report, up to 10 pages. An additional
charge of $0.10 per page in excess of 10 pages.
d. Reports pertaining to juveniles will not be released without a court
order from the juvenile court.
5. Release of stored or nonevidence impounded vehicles: $75.00.
6. Repossessed vehicle: $20.00.
7. Criminal background checks: $20.00.
8. Clearance letter: $25.00 per letter in addition to criminal background
check fee.
9. Security alarm permit fee: $20.00 per security alarm.
10. False alarm prevention assessment/penalty fee: in accordance with Merced County Code Section
10.80.050 False alarm prevention fee.
11. Copy of citation: $28.00.
12. Law enforcement civil standby: no charges will be incurred for court
ordered child endangerment cases. All other law enforcement civil
standbys must be approved by the Sheriff, or designee, and are subject
to a charge of $53.00 for every 15 minutes of law enforcement supervision.
13. Criminal transportation for other agencies: officer hourly salary
and benefits plus mileage and other associated transportation costs.

18. Subpoena duces tecum: in accordance with California
Evidence Code,
Section 1563.
19. Civil subpoena witness fee: in accordance with California Government
Code Section 68097.2.
20. Applicant LiveScan fee: $28.00.
21. Concealed weapon fees: the following fees will apply plus any fees
required by the Department of Justice and/or state of California.

22. License to sell firearms: pursuant to the provisions of Section 26705
of the California
Penal Code, the Sheriff may grant a license permitting
the sale of firearms. The fee for such license application, renewal
or modification shall be $50.00 plus any fees required by the Department
of Justice and/or state of California.
23. Search and rescue assistance to other agencies: In accordance with
California
Government Code Section 26614 et seq.
24. CLETS fees: hourly salary and benefits of Supervising Sheriff Dispatcher.
This includes costs of establishing CLETS at other agencies, training
of CLETS as required by law with other agencies, and other requested
CLETS administrative items.
