This chapter shall be known and may be cited as the "Community Redevelopment Agency of Atascadero Ordinance."

It is found and declared pursuant to Section 33101 of the California Health and Safety Code that there is a need for a community redevelopment agency created by Section 33100 of said law to function in the City of Atascadero, California. Said agency is authorized to transact business and exercise its powers on the Community Redevelopment Law pursuant to Health and Safety Code Section 33000 et seq.

The purpose of the Community Redevelopment Agency of Atascadero shall include the planning, development, replanning, redesign, clearance, reconstruction, or rehabilitation or any combination of the above and the provision of such commercial, industrial, public, or other structures or spaces as may be appropriate or necessary in the interest of the general welfare, including recreational and other facilities incidental or pertinent to them.

Pursuant to Section 33200 of the California Health and Safety Code, the City Council of the City of Atascadero does hereby declare itself to be the Community Redevelopment Agency, and all the rights, powers, duties, privileges and immunities, vested by law in a redevelopment agency, shall be vested in the City Council of the City of Atascadero except as otherwise provided by law.
