The bond of the city manager is fixed at one hundred thousand dollars; the bond of the city clerk is fixed at one hundred thousand dollars; the bond of the mayor is fixed at five thousand dollars; the bond of the mayor pro tem is fixed at five thousand dollars; the bond of the director of finance is fixed at one hundred thousand dollars; the bond of the city treasurer is fixed at one hundred thousand dollars. The city council shall approve all bonds before the appropriate officials enter into their duties. When approved, the city clerk's bond shall be filed with the mayor, other bonds shall be filed with the city clerk.

A. 
As an alternative to any bond required by this chapter, a government crime insurance policy or employee dishonesty insurance policy, including faithful performance, may be provided.
B. 
Pursuant to Sections 1463 and 1481 of the California Government Code, as may be amended, an insurance policy procured pursuant to this section may be used as a master bond as though it were an official bond.
C. 
An insurance policy procured pursuant to this section must provide coverage to the same extent, in the same amount and on substantially similar terms as the bonds required by Section 2.24.010 of this chapter.
