(a) 
All bonds required of city officers shall be furnished and executed by a surety company authorized to do business in the state and approved by the council.
(b) 
The premiums for such bonds shall be paid by the city out of its general fund.

Each of the following officers shall, before entering upon the duties of his or her office, execute a bond in accordance with the requirements of the Government Code, Sections 36518, 36519, 36520 and 36521, in not less than the penal sum mentioned below opposite the name of such officer:

It shall be the duty of the city clerk, city treasurer, city attorney and all employees of the city to cooperate with and assist the city manager in administering the affairs of the city most efficiently, economically and harmoniously so far as may be consistent with their duties as prescribed by law and ordinances of the city.
