For the purpose of this title the following words and phrases
are defined as set forth in this chapter.

"Authorized officer" means the director of the parks and recreation
department, peace officers of the county sheriff's department, or
any other employee of the county acting under the authority of the
director or sheriff.

"Board" means the board of supervisors of the county.

"Boat" means every type of watercraft, other than seaplane,
aquaplane, or water ski, upon which persons or property may be transported
under or over the surface of the water, including but not limited
to any boat, vessel, barge, jet ski, personal watercraft, raft, skiff,
dinghy, rowboat, sailboat, sailing vessels, yacht, motorboat, motor
vessel, launch, skip, float, or pontoon.

"Camping" means to remain overnight in any place other than
within a permanent building affixed to the ground.

"Day" is the period of time from six a.m. until ten p.m. of
the same day.

"Day use" is from six a.m. until ten p.m. of the same day and
is applicable to use of all facilities except for the Salida Community
Park which shall remain open until ten-thirty p.m. of the same day
and except for all other facilities designated for overnight use.

"Department" means the department of parks and recreation of
the county.

"Developed campsite" is a designated camping area having at
least three of the following: a designated number sign, vehicle parking
space, a picnic table, a fire grill, or a storage cabinet.

"Director" means the director of the department of parks and
recreation of the county.

"Horse" means any member of the equine family.

"Length of boat" means the overall length of the hull measured
on a horizontal plane from the furthest projection of the bow to the
stern, but not including motors, propellers or other projections not
an integral part of the hull.

"Motorboat" is any boat propelled in whole or in part by a motor,
engine or mechanical device of any kind except oars, paddles, or sails,
including jet skis or other personal watercraft and boats temporarily
equipped with detachable motors.

"Motor vehicle" means any automobile, motorcycle, motor scooter,
trail bike, dune buggy, truck, amphibian, or other self-propelled
vehicle operated on land.

"Overnight" means the period of time from ten p.m. until six
a.m. of the following morning.

"Public campground" is an area of land owned, operated, or maintained
by the county designated as an area for camping.

"Public reservoir" means those bodies of water and publicly
owned shorelines within the boundaries of the county.

"Recreation area" means any body of water, land, campsite, park
facility, building, or structure owned, managed, controlled, or operated
by the parks and recreation department of the county.

"Service animal" means any guide dog, signal dog, or other animal
individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of
an individual with a disability, including, but not limited to, guiding
individuals with impaired vision, alerting individuals with impaired
hearing to intruders or sounds, providing minimal protection or rescue
work, pulling a wheelchair, or fetching dropped items.

"Take" means hunt, pursue, catch, capture, or kill, or attempt
to hunt, pursue, catch, capture or kill.

"Undeveloped campsite" is a designated camping area having less
than three of the following: a designated number sign, vehicle parking
space, a picnic table, a fire grill or a storage cabinet.

"User" means one or more persons utilizing a recreation area.

"Waterfowl blind" means any structure on or alteration of a
designated area for the purpose of providing concealment for the taking
of waterfowl.

"Weapon" means any firearm, bow and arrow, sling shot, trap
or other contrivance designed to be or capable of being used to take
any bird, mammal, amphibian or reptile.

"Week" means any one hundred sixty-eight-hour period commencing
at the hour of six a.m. on any calendar day.
