The tax hereafter enacted shall be known as the "Public Employees
Retirement Tax."

The City Council declares that the tax required to be paid herein
is assessed pursuant to the powers granted under Article 3, Section
4 of the Inglewood City Charter and is intended for the purpose of
allowing the City to meet its voter-approved prior obligation to participate
in the Public Employees Retirement System.

In addition to the property tax otherwise collected pursuant
to the Constitution and the laws of the State of California, there
is hereby imposed, levied and assessed, over and above said amounts
a tax upon taxable property within the City of Inglewood for the purpose
of raising the revenues necessary to meet the obligation of said City
to the Public Employees Retirement System.

The tax imposed by this Article shall be set at a rate of .146958
cents per $100 of assessed valuation.

In all respects the Public Employees Retirement Tax referred
to herein shall be collected and the collection thereof endorsed in
the same manner and under the same conditions and pursuant to the
same notices as other taxes upon real property in the City.

Neither the tax imposed herein or any act relating to its assessment
or collection shall be illegal on account of informality nor because
the same was not completed within the time required by law.

It is hereby declared to be the intention of the City Council
that the sections, paragraphs, sentences, clauses, and phrases of
this ordinance are severable and if any phrase, clause, sentence,
paragraph or section of this ordinance shall be declared invalid by
the valid judgment or decree of a court of competent jurisdiction
such invalidity shall not affect any of the remaining phrases, clauses,
sentences, paragraphs and sections of this ordinance.
