The city shall employ one or more parking control aide officers
who shall be authorized to issue citations pursuant to Section 836.5
of the Penal Code for municipal code and zoning ordinance violations.
Such officers shall perform any additional and consistent duties at
the direction of the city manager.

The city shall employ one or more zoning code enforcement officers who shall be authorized to issue citations pursuant to Section 836.5 of the Penal Code for violations of the Lawndale zoning ordinance and for violations of Title 15 of this code. Zoning code enforcement officers shall operate under the direct supervision of the director of the community development department, and shall perform any additional and consistent duties at the direction of the city manager.

A city officer or employee making an arrest under the authority of this chapter shall follow the citation release procedures prescribed in Chapter 5C, Title 3, Part 2 of the California Penal Code (commencing with Section 853.5), or such procedures as may hereafter be enacted by the state.
