There is hereby established a zone which shall hereinafter be
known as the "I-L limited industrial zone," and which shall function
and serve as set out in this chapter.
(Prior code § 9205.14)
The intent and purpose of the limited industrial zone is to
designate areas within the city for providing a limited and restricted
variety of manufacturing, processing, warehousing, distribution, assembly,
storage and storage of products, materials and equipment, maintenance
facilities and corporation yards. This zone may also include research
and development activities in conjunction with product manufacturing
and wholesaling operations.
(Prior code § 9205.14 (A))
A. The
I-L zone is a land use classification which, in part, assists in the
implementation of the industrial land use element of the general plan.
It is a zone classification designed to be applied in those areas
of the community where selected, mixed light industrial uses are most
appropriate and compatible with one another, and where achievement
of high-quality design standards can be attained.
B. Application
of the I-L zone must clearly define and limit uses of land subordinate
to those uses which are generally considered heavy industry, and must
be protected from the tendency to allow the encroachment of general
industrial uses that would subjugate the scope of the I-L zone function
and purpose.
C. Uses
of land which do not qualify and which are not specifically permitted
in the I-L zone are hereby expressly prohibited.
(Prior code § 9205.14 (B))
Regulations governing permitted uses of land in the I-L zone are specifically set forth in Chapter
18.40 of this title.
(Prior code § 9205.14 (C))
Regulations governing the development of property for uses in the I-L zone are specifically set forth in Chapter
18.42 of this title.
(Prior code § 9205.14 (D))
Regulations governing off-street parking requirements for uses and development of property in the I-L zone are specifically set forth in Chapter
18.44 of this title.
(Prior code § 9205.14 (E))
Regulations governing signs and advertising requirements for uses and development of property in the I-L zone are specifically set forth in Chapter
18.46 of this title.
(Prior code § 9205.14 (F))
