For purposes of this chapter, the following words and phrases
shall have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section:
"Driver"
means every person in charge of, or operating, any passenger-carrying
or motor-propelled vehicle, as defined in this chapter, either as
agent, employee or otherwise, or owner, as owner, or under the direction
of the owner as defined in this chapter.
"Owner"
means every person having use or control of any passenger-carrying
automobile or motor-propelled vehicles, as defined in this chapter,
whether as owner, lessee or otherwise.

It is unlawful and a misdemeanor for any person in a public
transportation vehicle for hire, while in the city of Manteca, to
smoke any tobacco product or any other plant product.

Every owner or driver of a public transportation vehicle for
hire in the city of Manteca shall post a sign or signs in the interior
of each vehicle stating the following:
"IT IS UNLAWFUL TO SMOKE IN THIS VEHICLE."
Said sign or signs shall be posted in a conspicuous spot and
be of sufficient size so as to enable passengers in all seats to be
able to read said signs. It is unlawful and a misdemeanor for any
person to operate a public transportation vehicle for hire without
the sign set forth in this section.
