It shall be unlawful for any person to discharge or set off
any gun, rifle, pistol, or other firearm or any air gun, slingshot,
or other contrivance discharging shots, slugs, darts, arrows, rocks,
or other missiles when used in a manner likely to endanger life or
property.

The provisions of Section
5-14.01 of this chapter shall not apply where a firearm or weapon is discharged:
(a) By
a police officer or any other person summoned to aid or perform an
official duty;
(b) For
the protection of human life or property;
(c) By
a farmer to protect and preserve his crops or livestock from predatory
animals;
(d) Within
authorized pistol, rifle, and other target ranges, skeet shooting
facilities, and designated and posted hunting preserves; and
(e) With
the specific prior approval of the Council.
