It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle upon
a street within a school zone at a rate of speed greater than twenty
(20) miles per hour between the hours of seven-thirty (7:30) a.m.
and four-thirty (4:30) p.m., while school is in session, when such
zone is identified by appropriate signs.
(1) The school zone on Highway 80 is one thousand five hundred (1,500)
feet on either side of the intersection of College Street and Highway
80.
(2) The school zone on Highway 137 is from one thousand five hundred
(1,500) feet south of the intersection of Carpenter and Highway 137
to the north city limits.

(a) It shall be unlawful for any person operating a vehicle within any
area in the city lawfully designated as a school zone, during such
time as school zone restrictions are in effect, to allow any passenger
or passengers to alight from said vehicle except when said vehicle
is legally stopped or parked at the curb and not in the traffic lane
of said street. The unloading of passengers while in a traffic lane
is hereby specifically prohibited.
(b) Any person, firm, or corporation who shall violate any of the provisions
of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction
shall be fined in an amount not exceeding two hundred dollars ($200.00),
and each and every day's violation shall constitute a separate offense.
