Unless otherwise required by law, or by a court of competent jurisdiction, no Village officer or employee, and no other person present at an executive session of any board or agency of the Village of Great Neck Estates, shall disclose by any means any matter or information discussed or deliberated upon, or any action or determination taken or made, during a properly convened executive session of such board or agency. Notwithstanding the foregoing, any such officer, employee or other person may disclose the nature and content of any such discussion, deliberation, action or determination only to the extent necessary to effectuate, implement or enforce any such action or determination.
Violation of the prohibitions of this chapter shall be punishable by a fine not to exceed $1,000, and imprisonment for a period not to exceed 15 days, or by both such fine and imprisonment. In addition, any such violation shall constitute official misconduct and shall constitute a basis for appropriate proceedings or action for the removal or discharge of any officer or employee committing such violation.
In addition to any other penalty provided by law, the Village may institute such legal or equitable proceedings as may be available to prevent a violation of this chapter.
