[Adopted 4-13-1976 by L.L. No. 10-1976 as Ch. 3, Art. I, of the 1976 Code]
Pursuant to § 20, Subdivision 2, of the Town Law, the Town Board may appoint a Town Engineer to serve at the pleasure of said Board. The Town Engineer shall be a licensed professional engineer and/or licensed land surveyor and shall receive such compensation as may be provided by the Town Board.
The Town Engineer shall have the following duties:
A. 
Prepare or cause to be prepared, specifically as directed by the Town Board, plans, designs and specifications for public works and improvements undertaken by the town.
B. 
Provide and maintain surveys, maps, plans, specifications, tax maps and control records with respect to public works and facilities owned or operated by the town.
C. 
Provide technical and engineering advice and assistance to the Town Board, Superintendent of Highways and other town offices as needed.
D. 
Attend agenda or regular meetings of the Town Board as directed or requested by the Board.
All papers, documents, memoranda, reports and other materials relating to the administration of engineering duties of the Town Engineer shall be and remain the property of the town. Upon the termination of his or her services with the town, the Town Engineer shall forthwith surrender to any successor or to the town all such property.
Pursuant to § 20, Subdivision 2, of the Town Law, the Town Board may appoint Deputy Town Engineers or additional professional engineering counsel as it shall deem necessary from time to time.
