When the Village of Oxford acquired a trailer park on North Washington
Avenue, including in the transaction was a pagoda which at one time had been
located on Washington Park. The Village Board contacted the Historical Society
to discover if there was an interest in preserving and restoring the structure.
The Historical Society and the Oxford Revitalization Project with the help
of interested groups and individuals undertook the job of moving the pagoda
to its original site and restoring it to its former appearance. When completely
restored, it is hoped that the pagoda will also regain its place as a center
of community activities.
Bearing in mind that the pagoda and park are in a residential section
of the historic district, only those activities in keeping with the tone of
the park and surrounding area will be allowed.
