The elective offices in the village shall be and continue to be the
offices of Mayor, Trustee and Village Justice.
For purposes of this chapter a "board" or "commission" shall mean and
refer to any governmental body of officers of the village other than the Board
of Trustees, consisting of three or more regular voting members, authorized
or established by or pursuant to any law, statute, local law, ordinance, resolution,
order or similar legal enactment, and authorized or empowered to take any
official act or to hear and decide or otherwise determine any business or
other official matters properly before such body or within its lawful jurisdiction,
only upon the concurring vote of a majority or greater number of the whole
of the regular membership of such board or commission.
No person shall be eligible to be elected or appointed to an elective
office described in this article or as a regular or alternate member of any
village board or commission, as such body be defined in this article, and
no person if elected or appointed to any such elective or appointive office
shall be eligible to continue to hold such office and serve therein who is
not a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years of age and a resident
of the Village of New Hyde Park.
