The purpose and intent of this article is to insure that any person who is required to be licensed by state law in order to perform electrical contracting within the City has the required state license and performs the electrical contracting in accordance with applicable codes and regulations.
As used in this article, the following terms shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly indicates that a different meaning is intended:
ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR
A person who engages in the business of contracting to install, erect, repair or alter electrical equipment for the generation, transmission or utilization of electrical energy.
PERSON
A natural person, association, corporation, LLC, partnership or other legal entity.
Except as exempted by state law, no person shall perform electrical contracting within the City unless licensed to do so pursuant to the Electrical Contractors Licensing Act of 1962, N.J.S.A. 45:5A-1 et seq.
A. 
No state license or state business permit issued shall be assigned or transferred to another person by the licensee.
B. 
No licensee shall perform electrical contracting for any person within the City unless an electrical permit is obtained in accordance with the requirements of the State Uniform Construction Code.
C. 
Any person preventing the electrical subcode official from entering the premises or structure at reasonable times to conduct inspections of the electrical work being performed is iii violation of this article.
A. 
Any person advertising or engaging in the business of electrical contracting within the City without a state license is a disorderly person.
B. 
Any person convicted of violating these regulations shall be subject to the penalties set forth in Chapter 1, General Provisions, Article III, General Penalties.
