The purpose and intent of this article is to
insure that any person who is required to be licensed by state law
in order to perform electrical contracting within the City has the
required state license and performs the electrical contracting in
accordance with applicable codes and regulations.
As used in this article, the following terms
shall have the following meanings unless the context clearly indicates
that a different meaning is intended:
ELECTRICAL CONTRACTOR
A person who engages in the business of contracting to install,
erect, repair or alter electrical equipment for the generation, transmission
or utilization of electrical energy.
PERSON
A natural person, association, corporation, LLC, partnership
or other legal entity.
Except as exempted by state law, no person shall
perform electrical contracting within the City unless licensed to
do so pursuant to the Electrical Contractors Licensing Act of 1962,
N.J.S.A. 45:5A-1 et seq.
