As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the meanings
indicated:
PERSON or OWNER
Any individual person, group of persons, partnership, corporation,
firm or association or any other entity.
No person shall park, leave or store any inoperable motor vehicle or
truck trailer on any public lands or premises except in case of emergency
and then for a period of not more than 48 hours.
No person shall park, leave, store or maintain any inoperable motor
vehicle or truck trailer for a period of more than 30 days upon any private
lands or premises.
No owner or occupier of any private lands or premises shall permit or
suffer any inoperable motor vehicle or truck trailer to be parked, left, stored
or maintained on his or her lands or premises for more than 30 days.
Any vehicle which is disabled as a result of an accident upon a public
street or private property or which is involved in an accident on a public
street or private property or any vehicle which is stopped by any police officer,
in the discharge of his/her duties, under such circumstances that the operator
may not be able to or be permitted by law to operate the vehicle further,
may be towed away and stored at the premises provided for by the towing service
contracting with the Township to tow such vehicles and may there be held and
disposed of in accordance with the applicable statutes and laws of the State
of New Jersey.
This chapter shall not apply to motor vehicles or truck trailers located
or stored in garages or other buildings or to commercial garage operations.
