The Central Business Revitalization Overlay
District is designated to:
A. Promote the character of Downingtown as a traditional
town with traditional neighborhoods. This character is one where the
streetscape quality of a walkable downtown, and walkable neighborhoods,
adds charm and reinforces the historic sense of community.
B. Provide additional regulations to the underlying zoning
districts in accordance with Section 605 of the Pennsylvania Municipalities
Planning Code, whereby "places having unique historical, architectural
or patriotic interest or value" may be given an additional classification
within any zoning district.
C. Conform to the Central Business District Revitalization
Plan of the Borough of Downingtown, dated April 21, 1999.
A. The Central Business Revitalization Overlay District shall be as shown on the Overlay District Map dated May 20, 1999, which is attached hereto. The Overlay District shall be a supplement to the Zoning Map, as provided for in §
287-8B.
B. In addition, historic resources shall be protected
within the area shown on the Historic Resources Overlay District Map,
dated August 16, 1999, which is attached hereto. This Overlay District shall be a supplement to the Zoning Map, as provided for in §
287-8B.
A. The design standards for the Central Business Revitalization Overlay District shall be in accordance with Article
VI, §
256-56.1, of Chapter
256, Subdivision of Land, from the Code of the Borough of Downingtown.
B. The design standards for historic resources shall also be in accordance with §
287-101.3.
