A reciprocal arrangement between the Police
Department of the Township of Lower Merion and the Police Department
of the Borough of Narberth is hereby approved and established, such
arrangement to become effective whenever an ordinance substantially
similar in form to this article is adopted by the Council of the Borough
of Narberth and becomes effective.
All regular police officers of the Borough of
Narberth are hereby appointed police officers and members of the Police
Department of the Township of Lower Merion. All such borough police
officers shall take the oath of office before a District Justice and
shall serve without any compensation in addition to that received
from the borough.
In the event that a police officer of the Township
of Lower Merion shall make an investigation in the Borough of Narberth,
information acquired by him in the course of such investigation shall
be turned over to the officer of the borough on duty at the time the
investigation is being conducted, or as soon thereafter as may be
practical. Arrests made in the borough shall, whenever possible, be
made by a regular police officer of the borough and not by a township
officer, except when a borough officer is not present and a violation
is committed in the presence of an officer of the township.
[Amended 9-21-1977 by Ord. No. 1802]
All prosecutions shall be brought before a District
Justice in whose jurisdiction the violation of law was committed.
All regular police officers of the Township
of Lower Merion are hereby authorized to accept appointments as police
officers of the Borough of Narberth.
