The purpose of this article is to insure, in any future water district
formed by the Town, that the appurtenances are constructed to the standard
which provides necessary fire flows to standards as mandated herein.
All new construction of community public water supplies, for any municipal
water district formed in the Town, shall be designed, constructed, and maintained
in such a manner as to be able to meet the requirements of the New York State
Department of Health (quality and quantity) and the Insurance Services Office
(fire flow capabilities).
The design requirements to meet the above-referenced standards shall
include:
A. Minimum water distribution pipe size of eight-inch diameter;
B. Average fire hydrant spacing of 500 feet;
C. Elevated water storage facilities or ground level storage with
fire booster pumps.
The requirement for fire flows may be waived by the Town Board if there
is a sound technical and/or financial reason why the community public water
supply cannot meet the requirements as set forth herein.
