This chapter shall be known as the "Land Subdivision and Site Plan Ordinance of the Township of Byram."
It is the purpose of this chapter to establish the appropriate use and development of all lands in the municipality in a manner which will promote the public health, safety, convenience and general welfare. This chapter shall be administered to ensure the orderly growth and development, the conservation, protection and adequate provision of circulation of vehicular and pedestrian traffic, utilities and services and with a view to conserving the value of property and encouraging the most appropriate development of land within the Township of Byram. The provisions of this chapter shall be construed in accordance with the purposes of the Municipal Land Use Law.[1]

The terms as specified in this chapter shall be construed in accordance with the definitions set forth in the Municipal Land Use Law, N.J.S.A. 40:55D-3 through 40:55D-7, and as defined in Ch. 240, Zoning, § 240-7.
